48th Annual SWOSU Jazz Festival
SWOSU JAZZ FESTIVAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPATING BANDS
PERFORMANCE VENUES: ALL Jazz bands will perform in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
PARKING AND DIRECTIONS: The Fine Arts Building is located north of the main campus on Davis Road.
The physical address is 101 W. Davis. Please have your bus driver DROP OFF THE STUDENTS AT THE PARKING LOT WEST OF THE FINE ARTS CENTER AND PARK THE BUS IN THAT LOT. PLEASE PARK AS FAR NORTH AS YOU CAN TO ALLOW OTHER BUSES. AFTER PARKING, PLEASE ENTER THE NORTHWEST DOORS TO THE FINE ARTS BUILDING TO RECEIVE YOUR INFORMATION PACKET.
WARMUP ROOM: Warm-up will be 30 minutes prior to your performance. All Bands will warm up in Fine Arts Room 102. You will be guided to your warmup area by a student ambassador.
PROVIDED EQUIPMENT: We will provide a sound system with four microphones, chairs, stands, acoustic piano (with microphone) drumset, bass amp, guitar amp, congas, vibes, and two levels of risers. We will provide only chairs, stands, and drumset in the warm-up area but are working on the possibility of having some amps.
PERFORMANCE REGULATIONS: Your band will have 30 minutes to set up, perform, receive comments from all judges before moving to the clinic room. PLEASE REMAIN ON STAGE FOLLOWING YOUR PERFORMANCE TO ALLOW JUDGES TO GIVE IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK. SCORES are NOT required for the judges. Judges comments will be recorded for all bands. A Drobpox link with the recordings will be emailed to you. Adjudication sheets and Outstanding Soloist Certificates will be available to the director at the information desk or delivered to you by your student assistant following your performance. Bands will be given ratings and comments but will not be ranked by the judges.
OTHER INFORMATION: A CD recording of your performance will be available for all participating bands. Your CD will be put in your packet with judges comment sheets and outstanding soloists certificates.
CONCERTS WITH THE DONNY McCASLIN GROUP AND JAZZ A: The 1:00 and 8:00 concerts on February 9th will be held at the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is $3.00 for participating students or students groups unless you ordered the $200.00 package. General admission for the concerts is $10.00.
A special concert by THE DONNY McCASLIN GROUP will be presented on Thursday, February 8th, in the HILLTOP THEATRE AND BROADCAST LIVE at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free!
GUEST ARTIST CLINICS: Members of THE DONNY McCASLIN GROUP will be giving clinics on Friday, February 9th. See schedule for more details.
